A man is in critical condition after being stabbed at Montrose Beach on Monday evening, Chicago police said.

The 29-year-old was on a walkway in the 4600 block of North Lawrence Wilson Drive, the street that runs along the beach, when he got involved in a fight with another man, according to CPD.

Police said the offender pulled out a knife, stabbed the victim twice in the upper chest, and fled the scene. Witnesses said the assailant left the area in a Dodge Dart.

EMS took the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
