17-year-old kidnapped, robbed driver near North Avenue Beach, Chicago police say

Chicago police say a 17-year-old boy kidnapped and robbed a man in Lincoln Park early Friday, only to be arrested less than two hours later after dumping the victim.

The boy and at least two other people held the man at gunpoint after forcing their way into his vehicle in the 1600 block of North Lake Shore Drive, according to a CPD media statement.

They robbed him and eventually let him go. But the victim flagged down police officers near Fullerton and Damen, and cops arrested the boy minutes later.

He is charged with armed robbery with a firearm, kidnapping, and misdemeanor obstruction of identification.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
