Update: Woman possibly pushed from Uptown window has died

CHICAGO — A woman who was found unresponsive in an Uptown alley over the weekend, possibly after being forced from a third-floor window, has died, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jillian Schappa, 31, succumbed to her injuries a little before 4 p.m. Monday. An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday.

Schappa was found in an alley behind the 4900 block of North Kenmore, just north of Argyle, on Saturday afternoon. Police responded to St. Francis Hospital after learning about the incident, but Schappa was unresponsive and could not tell them what happened.

Chicago police detectives launched an investigation. Officers found signs of a struggle in the third-floor apartment directly above where the woman was found, according to a CPD report. The medical examiner will be tasked with determining how she died.
