Update: The woman shot in road rage conflict near Soldier Field has died

CHICAGO — The woman shot in an apparent road rage conflict near Soldier Field on Sunday evening has died.

Nancy Padilla, 37, of the 1100 block of North Leclaire, was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The office ruled her death a homicide due to a gunshot wound to the head.

Padilla and a 26-year-old man were traveling north in the 2200 block of South Lake Shore Drive when someone fired shots at them from another vehicle around 8:08 p.m., Chicago police said.

She was shot in the neck and the man in the car suffered a graze wound to his back, according to CPD.

Police said the driver of a 2015 Nissan Sedan cut Padilla and the man off, and one of the victims honked at the other driver. The offender then pulled up next to the victims’ Volkswagen, and someone shot at the victims from inside the Nissan.

No arrests have been made. Police did not release descriptions of the offender.
