CHICAGO — Two migrants were transported to a hospital, and one subsequently died after they were found unresponsive outside the Near North (18th) District police station, 1160 North Larrabee, on Saturday morning.

The victims were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital around 8:30 a.m., and one of them, a 26-year-old man, died at 9:08 a.m., officials said. A source familiar with the situation said the deceased man has four children in Venezuela. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.

CPD sent an evidence technician to the scene on Saturday afternoon to take photographs of the area and the inside of a tent. There was no official word about what caused the two victims to lose consciousness, but the source said narcotics use was suspected.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
