15-year-old boy robbed a woman in Lakeview and a 14-year-old in University Village, police say

CHICAGO — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with robbing a woman in Lakeview earlier this year, Chicago police say.

The woman was in the 3800 block of North Southport around 6:40 a.m. on June 20 when at least two people robbed her while displaying a firearm.

CPD said the boy is also charged with robbing a 14-year-old boy in the 1300 block of West 14th Street around 3:15 p.m. on October 11.

The police did not reveal how detectives determined that the boy participated in the robberies. He was arrested on Thursday.

He is charged with two counts of armed robbery.

In a community alert issued on June 23, Area Three detectives linked the Lakeview robbery with six other holdups and armed carjackings, including two that occurred immediately before the woman was targeted on Southport.

About six minutes before the Southport robbery, another victim was robbed in the 1900 block of West Irving Park Road. Moments later, another robbery was reported in the 4200 block of North Wolcott.

The alert linked those crimes with robberies and carjackings reported in the 4300 and 3800 blocks of North Western Avenue around 10:15 p.m. on June 19 and robberies in the 200 block of North Paulina and the 2000 block of West Augusta on June 22.

Each crime involved two or three offenders traveling in a gray Chrysler 300.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
