Gunman hijacks one car in Logan Square, leaves another hijacked car behind

CHICAGO — An armed carjacker dumped one hijacked car and immediately took another at gunpoint in Logan Square early Monday morning.

Chicago police said a 45-year-old man was in the 1600 block of North Albany when the carjacker approached him around 12:09 a.m. The hijacker, wearing all black clothing with a black ski mask, displayed a gun equipped with a laser, robbed the victim, and demanded the keys to his cherry red 2011 Lexus RX 350.

But the carjacker left a hijacked 2014 Nissan Altima at the scene. It was hijacked from near the intersection of Austin and Dickens in Belmont Cragin on Saturday.

In that case, a man wearing a black ski mask displayed a gun with a laser to rob and hijack the victim. He left a stolen vehicle at that scene, too.

The hijacker is described in CPD reports as Black, about 5’8″ tall, and skinny. In Belmont Cragin, he wore a gray and brown hoodie.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
