Home invader sexually assaulted woman in Boystown, Chicago police say; suspect in custody

Chicago police are questioning a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted during a home invasion in Boystown on Saturday morning.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of North Halsted Street.

The 39-year-old woman was inside her apartment when a man she did not know broke through her door, according to a CPD spokesperson. He entered the woman’s home, physically attacked her, and sexually assaulted her, the spokesperson said.

Another person in the building called 911, and Chicago cops detained a man at the scene. A resident of the building told CWBChicago that they believed the assailant may have followed the woman into the building, but that has not been confirmed.

Police said the woman declined medical attention at the scene. We will publish a full update after charges are filed.
