3 men robbed at gunpoint outside Old Town condo building

CHICAGO — Three men were robbed at gunpoint in Old Town on Saturday evening, Chicago police say.

The victims, a 23-year-old and two 24-year-olds, were outside a condo building in the 1300 block of North Sandburg Terrace when the robber pulled a handgun on them around 10:50 p.m., police said.

He threatened to use the firearm and ordered the men to surrender their valuables. After collecting their phones and wallets, he ran from the scene.

Officers who met with the victims described the robber as a Black man wearing a black ski mask and black clothing. He stood 5’8″ to 5’10” tall and weighed 150 to 190 pounds.

While robberies this year are down 8% citywide from the significant spike seen last year, holdups in the Near North (18th) District, which includes Old Town, have risen 17%, according to CPD’s latest statistical reports.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
