Motorist shot, killed while driving on Far North Side

CHICAGO — A man was shot and killed while driving in on the Far North Side, according to Chicago police.

In a brief media statement, CPD said the 23-year-old was driving in the 6200 block of North Francisco when someone approached his vehicle and shot him around 10:50 p.m. After being shot in the chest, the victim drove until crashing in the 3100 block of West Devon a short time later.

A witness said they saw two men wearing face masks and black clothing flee the scene in a black sedan. The police, however, did not release descriptions of the shooter or say how they escaped.

Officers who responded to the call said they found a firearm with the victim. Officers placed evidence markers next to about a dozen shell casings at the shooting scene. They also found an ammunition magazine there.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
