Rifle-wielding bicyclists have committed 6 robberies in Rogers Park, police say

CHICAGO — Two men, riding bikes and armed with a pistol and a rifle, have committed six armed robberies this month in Rogers Park, according to a new community alert from Chicago police detectives.

During five of the robberies, the men confronted victims on the street or inside residential garages, the alert said. They pointed handguns or rifles at the victims while taking phones and cash. One of the robberies occurred inside a business, but the police did not say which one.

Robberies linked to the crew were reported:

  • in the 6500 block of North Bosworth at 1 p.m. on May 3
  • in the 1400 block of West Pratt at 9:30 a.m. on May 6
  • in the 6900 block of North Sheridan at 9:45 p.m. on May 6
  • in the 7000 block of North Sheridan at 1:42 p.m. on May 9
  • in the 1200 block of West Devon at 9:24 p.m. on May 12
  • in the 1100 block of West Farwell at 10:32 p.m. on May 15

CPD’s alert said the suspects are Black males wearing bikes and armed with pistols. Police reported that a Hispanic man accompanied them during one of the holdups.
