Credit union robbed at gunpoint inside UIC student center

CHICAGO — An armed man robbed a credit union inside the University of Illinois Chicago student center on Friday morning, according to a bulletin from the school’s police department.

A teller activated a silent holdup alarm around 11:17 a.m. at Credit Union 1, 750 South Halsted, after being robbed at gunpoint, UICPD said. After getting cash, the robber escaped in a white Prius with Illinois plate DL48196. The police said it was last seen entering the outbound Dan Ryan at Union.

UICPD’s bulletin described the robber as “male, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, a stocky build, wearing a black ski mask, black dreads locks, black pants, black hoodie, black gloves, carrying a black bag, and displaying a black handgun.”

The university police department is heading up the investigation, according to their bulletin. UICPD’s number is 312-996-2830.
