Man shot while seated in car in Noble Square overnight

CHICAGO — A man was shot while seated in a car in Noble Square overnight. The 26-year-old drove himself to Rush Hospital for treatment and is in good condition, according to Chicago police.

He was in a car on the 1100 block of North Milwaukee when someone in another vehicle opened fire on him around 1:37 a.m. Bullets struck him in the lower back and knee. Police responded to the area in response to 911 calls about shots fired, but he was gone when they arrived.

His car, which remained at the hospital this morning, had bullet holes along the driver’s side. Both of the driver’s side windows were shot out, too.

Area Three detectives are handling the investigation.

Note: CPD released a media statement saying the shooting occurred at 2:30 a.m. However, that is the time that Rush Hospital called the police to inform them that a gunshot victim had arrived for treatment. The gunshots were reported at 1:37 a.m.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
