Are you planning to complete an online sale in the 5100 block of Dorchester? You’d better think again.

CHICAGO — Four people who went to the 5100 block of Dorchester to complete online sale transactions have been robbed since May 29, Chicago police said in a new community alert.

Each victim advertised something for sale on social media and received offers from someone who suggested meeting in the 5100 block of South Dorchester to complete the deal, said police. When the victims arrived, one or two men robbed them of the item they intended to sell. Each time, the robbers escaped into a nearby building.

According to the alert, robberies were reported on May 29 at 4:40 p.m.; June 5 at 8:50 p.m.; June 11 at 5:30 p.m.; and June 17 at 6:15 p.m. CPD said the robbers were Black men between 20 and 25 years old.
