CHICAGO — Police need help finding a hit-and-run driver who struck and critically injured a 90-year-old man in Edgewater on Saturday evening.

The victim was crossing the 6000 block of North Broadway at Elmdale when the driver of a silver 2005 Chevy Equinox struck him at 5:43 p.m., according to Chicago police. A witness told officers that the driver fled the scene, returned moments later, and then fled a second time, a CPD report said.

The witness took a picture of the Equinox, which the CPD included in a press release a few hours later. Police said the vehicle had a pink breast cancer ribbon sticker on the rear window and bore Illinois temporary license plate 313-AC-082.

It described the driver as a Black female who was about 27 years old. The police report said a witness reported the woman was wearing a bonnet.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition.

CPD’s Major Accident Investigation Unit asks anyone with helpful information or video to contact them at 312-745-4521 regarding case number JH558294.
