CHICAGO — The reward has been doubled for information that helps investigators solve and prosecute the mass shooting that left three men dead and five others injured at a house party in Gage Park earlier this month. Officials have said all of the victims were migrants.
On Thursday, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives announced a $10,000 reward in addition to the previously announced Cook County Crime Stoppers reward.
Police responded to calls of shots fired in the 3500 block of West 59th Street around 2:10 p.m. on December 2. They found eight people shot, four men and four women, all between the ages of 20 and 35. Three of the men died. Cook County Crime Stoppers identified them as Osmer Angel Ferrer Oria, 32, Hector Victor Miguel Sojo Vargas, 26, and 28-year-old Jhan Carlos Blanquissett. Blanquissett was previously identified as Jon Carlos Blancarcer.
Witnesses confirmed to police that a birthday party was underway and a famous DJ from Venezuela was performing.
“This is a tragic crime, brazen and unthinkable to have occurred in the middle of the afternoon, much less during the holiday season,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge Christopher Amon of the Chicago Field Division. “We are dedicated to working closely with our law enforcement partners and CrimeStoppers to locate those responsible and are also appealing to the public to assist in their identification.”
The ATF said its reward is available for information that leads to “the positive identification, location and apprehension of those involved” in the shooting.
Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the perpetrators can contact Cook County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-535-STOP.
