Two individuals were injured in a shooting at a homeless encampment in Humboldt Park early Sunday morning, Chicago police reported. The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. under a viaduct in the 3000 block of West Chicago Avenue.

According to authorities, an unidentified suspect fired multiple shots from a black SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade, before fleeing eastbound. The victims, a 59-year-old man and a woman whose age was not disclosed but appeared to be in her 50s, were struck by gunfire. The man sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was reported in good condition. The woman, shot in her left shoulder, was listed in critical condition.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police have not identified a motive for the shooting, and the suspect remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.
