Mother stabbed 7-year-old son in Rogers Park: report

A woman is in custody after she apparently stabbed her 7-year-old son in Rogers Park on Saturday morning.

Chicago police issued a statement saying, “a 7-year-old male victim inside a residence was approached by a 26-year-old female offender who produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim” around 8 a.m.

Investigators learned about the stabbing after the boy was taken to Evanston Hospital, where staff members notified police.

Evanston and Chicago officers responded to the hospital and learned that the stabbing occurred in an apartment in the 1700 block of West Touhy. The child’s mother was arrested at the hospital, according to a source.

Meanwhile, the boy was transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he underwent surgery. CPD said he was in fair condition.
