A man has robbed at least three people at gunpoint of anime trading cards after luring each victim by responding to social media marketplace listings, Chicago police said.
The incidents occurred on March 17, March 28, and March 29, all in the 5200 and 5300 blocks of South Kedzie Avenue. Each time, the victim posted an ad online offering to sell anime trading cards, the offender reached out to express interest, and the two agreed to meet in person, police said.
When the seller arrived, police say, the offender directed them inside a building lobby, produced a handgun, and took the trading cards. He then fled on foot.
CPD described the robber as a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing around 200 pounds. He has a beard, wears black-framed glasses, and dark clothing.
