Concealed carry holder shot woman who was trying to break up a fight outside The Dime, prosecutors allege

A 39-year-old Aurora woman remains hospitalized with devastating injuries nearly two months after she was shot after leaving a Lincoln Park bar. On Friday, prosecutors charged a concealed-carry holder who had been drinking at the club that night with trying to kill her and tying the shooting to The Dime, the same bar that city officials have connected to an unrelated fatal shooting in July.

Before Lincoln Park murder, 911 callers reported a street fight and an armed man, but CPD had no cops available

Chicago’s 911 center received multiple calls of suspicious activity, a fight, and even a man with a gun in the nearly 40 minutes that preceded the fatal shooting of a man on a troubled Lincoln Park bar strip late Sunday night, CPD radio transmissions show. But the local police district was in a “backlog” for nearly two hours, meaning dispatchers did not have any patrol units available to handle incoming service requests, and those calls did not generate a police response until it was too late.
