Two men salting a West Town sidewalk and an 80-year-old man are among at least nine people who were robbed at gunpoint during two holdup sprees Wednesday night and Thursday morning, mainly in West Town, Bucktown, and Logan Square, according to Chicago police. There were seven robberies reported in the same areas on Sunday morning.
A carload of suspected armed robbers committed a series of holdups in Bucktown and the North Side, then crashed into a truck in Lincoln Square as Chicago police officers closed in on them Monday morning. Four suspects are in custody after running from the flaming wreckage, and police recovered at least two firearms.
An armed robbery crew shot a man during a carjacking attempt on the West Side, then went on a cross-city crime spree that left at least 15 victims in their wake overnight, according to Chicago police. The same group committed five robberies on the north and near west sides last week, according to CPD.
