Prosecutors said Juan Gonzalez fired a gun while playing with it just feet away from his 10-year-old brother. It was the second time in 8 days that Gonzalez’s family called police after he fired a gun, prosecutors said.
Police said the group, which is sometimes armed, steals vehicles and uses them to go on crime sprees across the North Side and downtown. The team has also used stolen and hijacked vehicles to commit burglaries and other crimes in the suburbs, according to CPD.
An armed man carjacked a four-door pickup truck on the Northwest Side and then went on an hour-long robbery spree Monday evening through Rogers Park, West Ridge, Edgewater, and Lincoln Square, according to CPD reports.
Police are warning residents of the Far North Side about another violent robbery team that is working in the West Ridge neighborhood. The alert involves a different group of offenders than another bulletin that detectives issued Monday.
