A male victim was jumped by six offenders described as male, black, in their early 20’s wearing all dark clothing at the corner of Halsted Street and Newport this morning. The gang attempted to steal the man’s cell phone, but he fought back and regained control of his property. The six would-be robbers then fled northbound on Halsted. Police officers took the victim’s information, but no report has been filed.

Since there is no report, it appears that this will be another robbery that “never happened.”

About CWBChicago 4358 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
