Chicago Police Department Case #HW331232

An officer radioed for an immediate ambulance dispatch after witnessing a violent attack at the intersection of Clark and Newport. Officers are still trying to sort things out as the sun rises this morning. We know that two Hispanic men fled the scene and hid under the L tracks on Newport. Arriving officers quickly found and detained them. A black male was also involved in the melee, which sent one person to Illinois Masonic with a head wound, left another participant with a bloody eye, and resulted in the third man losing a chunk of his shoulder.

Detectives found a secondary crime scene several blocks away at 737 W. Grace. Evidence technicians have been called to secure a weapon and take samples from blood stains found there.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
