Chicago Police Department Case #HW346854

Just minutes before tonight’s neighborhood CAPS meeting got underway at the 19th district police station, witnesses called 911 to report a robbery in progress at Walgreens, 1001 W. Belmont at Sheffield. According to callers, the knife-wielding offender jumped over a counter in the pharmacy area and took the cash drawer. He then fled westbound on Belmont Avenue.

Officers stopped and searched two CTA trains that were seen leaving the Belmont station soon after the robbery, but the offender was not found.

Police describe the offender as a black male in his upper 30’s, 5’10” tall, wearing a waist-long white t-shirt and baggy gray sweatpants. He had a short afro, bloodshot eyes, a teardrop tattoo under one eye, and a tattoo on one side of his neck.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
