SEX ATTACK: Man victimized in Boystown

A male victim reported being sexually assaulted in the 3200 block of N. Dayton Street this morning. The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment. Dayton street is the short street that runs between Belmont and Aldine, one block west of Halsted.

This is the second criminal sexual assault involving male victims reported in Boystown recently.  On June 28, a man was dragged into an alley and sexually attacked by an assailant in the 700 block of W. Cornelia Avenue.

As background, “rape” is not the name of a crime in Illinois. The state classifies crimes commonly known as rape–forced sexual penetration, penetration in which the other party is not capable of giving legal consent, etc–as criminal sexual assault.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
