SOUND FAMILIAR?: Overnight Robbery On Halsted

Two 911 callers reported a robbery on the street at Halsted and Roscoe at 4:15 this morning. One caller told police that the victim lost his cell phone in the incident and would be waiting for police at the Belmont Red Line station.

The two callers offered different descriptions of the offenders:

The first caller said the offenders were two males, one on foot with no shirt and the other on a bike, fleeing southbound on Halsted Street.

The second caller said the two robbers were both on bikes, with one being a white male with short black hair wearing a blue shirt and a backpack.

Officers searched the area for the offenders without success. No report was taken because the victim did not approach officers at the robbery scene or at the Belmont Red Line.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
