THAT'S A RAP: District Runs Out of Cops. Again.

The 19th district ran out of officers to handle calls this morning. A couple of units popped back into service during the shortage and were quickly assigned priority calls.

Dispatch notified supervisors that the district was going into a RAP, which stands for “Radio Assignments Pending” at 4:36AM. The day crew came on duty at 6:00AM and began working on the backlog of calls, most of which were over two hours old, according to dispatchers.

Fortunately, today’s backlogged matters were routine issues.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
