DOGGED DETERMINATION: Pups Go Missing After Avondale Burglary

UPDATE MARCH 14, 12:15AM: Pierre and Rue have been found. In an email forwarded to us, Charlie Gurion says he was contacted tonight by a man saw who saw an ad about the missing dogs on Craigslist:

He found them in Humboldt Park last night before the storm while coming home from the laundromat with his kids. They took them back to their home and kept them safe.

We are beyond thankful for everyone’s love and support…Our house and family are whole again! Two weeks ago, Avondale residents

David Wilk and Charlie Gurion made headlines.

They were the first gay couple to receive a marriage license in Illinois after a federal judge ruled that Cook County residents need not wait for the state’s same-sex marriage law to take effect on June 1.

Tonight, they’re in the news for a much less pleasant reason.

From our inbox:

My friends house was burglarized near Belmont and Sacramento this morning and they returned to find their security system, electronics and their two French Bulldogs missing. Pierre is a 9-month-old French bulldog and Rue is a 2-year-old French Bulldog who is deaf.

Pierre is gray and is about 20 pounds, and Rue is white with tan spots and is about 18 pounds.

They aren’t sure if the dogs were taken in the robbery or if they ran out at some point during, but are desperate to get them home.

Anyone with information should contact David at…. david@sharethis.com

I saw your post about Norito a few months back and was inspired to look, so if you could help and please post we would really appreciate it.

Why not? Norito found his way home, let’s give it a whirl for Pierre and Rue.

About CWBChicago 4259 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
