WHACK FRIDAY: Battery Near I-Hop, Burglary On Stratford As The Hood Begins To Thaw

Several callers reported that two men were fighting near the IHop at Grace and Halsted this afternoon. A police officer was injured during the effort to restore the peace.

It turns out that the incident actually involved a 30-year-old woman who struck a man on the street, causing the man to “go berserk” shortly before 1PM.

The combative woman was taken to Illinois Masonic for an evaluation. Initially logged as a battery in CPD record HX184477.

Stratford Burglary

The burglary scene has been relatively quiet in our neck of the woods since a serial burglar who’s accused of running rampant through Wrigleyville was arrested last month.

That will be little solace to the owner of a condo in the 600 block of Stratford Place, though.

A neighbor found the first-floor residence door wide open around 12:30 this afternoon and police confirmed that burglars had forced their way into the unit.

CPD record HX184465 lists the incident as a forcible entry burglary.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
