Oh, Belmont. The colicky baby of area streets that keeps screaming for attention.

Multiple 911 callers reported a large fight in the street near the Belmont Red Line at 2:40 this morning. One caller reported “50 to 60” people-including members of Belmont’s prostitution buffet—fighting near Clarke’s diner at the intersection of Belmont and Wilton. A fire department ambulance crew that was called to the scene also radioed for police assistance to quell the action. No arrests.

• About two hours later, police returned to the intersection after officers were asked to assist with a battery in progress inside Clarke’s. No one wanted to press charges, so no report has been filed.

About CWBChicago 4259 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
