HELLO, GOODBYE: iPhone Swiped From Southport Home

To the list of places that you should not have your cell phone exposed in Lake view, you may now add this: Your home.

A woman called 911 shortly before 10 o’clock this morning to report that a teenager had just come into her house and stolen her iPhone, iPod, and a charger. She had the back door open to let in some fresh air.

The victim, who lives in the 3900 block of Southport, described the offender as male, black, 14- to 17-year-old, with short hair. He wore baggy pants, a red and white baseball cap, and he was carrying a bowl.

He was last seen heading westbound in the alley behind Byron with the victim’s charger dangling from his hand.

Recorded as a burglary in CPD case HX309748.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
