MUGGY: A Rough Wednesday Morning

Ahh. Wednesday. What a great day to get up early and go rob people!

Gunman Gets Virtually-Empty Wallet

The guy who robbed a man at gunpoint near Wellington and Clifton this morning faces several years in prison for a crime that netted him a Levi’s wallet and somebody else’s school ID card. Several years if they ever catch him, that is.

Police were called to the scene around 1 o’clock this morning by the victim who said the offender displayed a black handgun and took the victim’s nearly-empty wallet.

The offender is described as male, black, 5’10” tall, 150 pounds, wearing a black shirt with a graphic design and jeans. He was last seen running eastbound on Wellington. CPD case number is HX289073.

Officers in the neighboring 18th district responded to a similar robbery near the Steppenwolf theater shortly before the Wellington hold-up. In that case, the victim was approached from behind by a man armed with a black handgun. The offender was described as male, black, in his mid-20’s, 5’7″ tall, wearing a black shirt and black shorts.

Bicyclist Beaten, Robbed Of Guitar in Lincoln Park

Around 2:30AM in Lincoln Park, witnesses reported seeing a bicyclist get knocked from his ride and beaten by a group of men just north of the Biograph Theater on Lincoln Avenue. It turns out that the men were robbing the bicyclist of his guitar.

An ambulance crew treated the victim who described his attackers as five white men in their early 20’s. They fled northbound on Lincoln, then west on Wrightwood in a red car.

CPD case number is TBD.

Hi, gang!

At 1:32 this morning, callers reported people being beaten up in the park east of Lake Shore Drive between Addison and Waveland. Officers determined that the incidents were gang-related.

Up to 15 males in a red Jeep and a black car were involved, according to one witness, who last saw the vehicles heading north on Recreation Drive.

Officers ran ID checks on several suspects and learned that one is a convicted gun offender, one is a parolee, and two are Gangster Two Six. Just enjoying the early morning splendors of Lake View, of course.
