TONIGHT: MSNBC Digs Into Crime Stat Controversy

MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes reports tonight on “the controversy surrounding Chicago’s plummeting crime stats,” building on the extensive springtime reporting of Noah Isackson and David Bernstein in Chicago magazine.

Isackson and Bernstein’s second installment focused heavily on developments here in our 19th district.

In a preview of tonight’s report, Mayor Rahm Emanuel stammers his way through a seemingly simple question: How did Chicago’s crime rate reportedly decline so steeply?

As we know, his answer about putting “more police on the street” is bogus. Our district alone has lost 25% of its manpower since Emanuel took office.

All In airs tonight at 7PM.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
