WRIGLEYVILLE: Cops Recap Sexual Assault Case

At last night’s CAPS meeting for Wrigleyville and Boystown, 19th district Commander Elias Voulgaris gave an update on the criminal sexual assault incident that allegedly occurred in the men’s bathroom of a Clark Street bar this weekend.

DNAInfo Chicago has a good review of his information. Highlights:

• “This not a serial rapist or anything like that. This does not appear to be a random act.”

• Irish Oak is “cooperating fully.”

• Another woman who reported a sexual assault in the 3500 block of Clark two weekends ago has recanted and her case is closed.

As CWB reported first yesterday, the police department does not believe that there is a “rapist loose” in the area.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
