19th district police handled their third bank robbery in two weeks this afternoon after a man walked up to a teller at the Chase bank near Clark and Barry and implied he had a gun.

He walked out of the bank onto Halsted Street around 2:34PM without getting any money.

Officers recovered the suspect’s baseball hat and t-shirt behind a nearby Illinois Masonic Medical Center parking garage. Witnesses report seeing him walking westbound on Wellington toward Sheffield with his t-shirt removed.

The FBI describes today’s would-be robber as male, white, 6’1” tall, heavy set, mid-40’s, salt and pepper hair in a pony tail, wearing a blue or purple baseball cap and gray t-shirt. Witnesses report that he may have had a tank top under the t-shirt and he wore gray shorts with a stripe on the side.
