Who wears a poncho on a brilliantly sunny day? A bank robber.

A Lake View bank was robbed of over $1,000 this afternoon by a man who implied he had a weapon, according to police and a witness.

Officers were tipped off around 12:15PM by multiple alarm triggers at the Fifth Third bank, located at 640 W. Diversey between Jamba Juice and the Days Inn entrance.

The FBI is describing the offender as a white man in his late 40’s to 50’s with gray hair. He’s about 6-feet tall and was last seen wearing an orange rain poncho and sunglasses as he headed northbound on Clark Street.

CPD case HX374924.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
