BIKE LOCKED: 3 Charged In Lakefront Cycle Shop Burglary

Aviles and Perez. (Cook Co. Sheriff’s Office)

Three men have been arrested for allegedly stealing $20,000 worth of high-end bikes and parts from a lakefront cycle shop.

CBS2 reports that the arrests came after local bike cops who frequent the business while on patrol launched an investigation on their own time.

Mauricio Franco, 22; Jeremiah Aviles, 19; and Israel Perez, also 19, are charged with felony burglary in connection with the September 14 break-in at Lakeshore Bikes, which is located east of Lake Shore Drive near Addison.
Aviles and Perez are each jailed in lieu of $25,000 bond. CWB could not immediately locate bond information or a mugshot for Franco.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
