Man Charged With Setting Wife On Fire

James S. Roberts, 66, is the man accused of pouring rubbing alcohol over his wife and setting her ablaze in the parking lot of an Uptown Jewel-Osco store on Sunday.

Roberts is being held without bond on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, aggravated battery of a senior citizen, and pot possession.

As of Tuesday night, Roberts remained in Illinois Masonic Medical Center for health issues that he complained of shortly after being taken into custody Sunday. Prosecutors say his wife is fighting for her life.

About CWBChicago 4360 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
