UP & OVER: Burglary Spree At Boystown Self-Storage Center

Access was gained by cutting through the units’ wire roofs.

Police say that at least a dozen units were targeted last week in a burglary at Uncle Bob’s Self Storage, 3626 Broadway.

Witnesses report that the offender entered the units by climbing up and clipping through wire fencing that serves as each unit’s “roof.”

“I think it’s a matter of time before he gets caught,” an Uncle Bob’s customer told us this weekend. “Everyone has their own personal code to get into both the building and the elevator. [There are] cameras everywhere.”

The Uncle Bob’s employees “are the nicest people ever,” the victim said. “I feel terrible this happened to them. You can tell they are upset by it.”

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
