WITNESSES: Gay Slurs Preceded Uptown Robbery

A 36-year-old Uptown man was robbed late Sunday night and witnesses report that anti-gay slurs were yelled before the attack.

The victim, who is gay, was battered and robbed of his wallet and iPhone 6 by two men in the 4400 block of Malden around 11:35PM.

Witnesses describe the offenders as two Hispanic men, possibly Puerto Rican, 20 to 25 years of age, standing about 6-feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
