WRIGLEYVILLE: Allegedly Assaulted In Bar, Woman Refuses Police Service

A 27-year-old woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted in a Wrigleyville bar this week was initially uncooperative with responding officers, police said.

While bar patrons told police that they had detained a suspect early Wednesday morning, officers say the alleged victim refused to sign a complaint and then left the scene without giving investigators any information.

About an hour later, emergency workers at Thorek Hospital called 911 to report that a female patient in their emergency room was claiming to have been sexually assaulted in Wrigleyville. Police confirmed that the woman at Thorek was the same woman they saw at the Wrigleyville bar. She again refused to talk with police, officers said.

CWB is withholding the name of the bar until allegations are formalized in a police report.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
