Two people were targeted in separate armed robberies in nearby Lakeview Wednesday evening. No one was injured and no suspects were detained.

Most recently, a Lakeview woman was robbed of her purse by a man who brandished a knife near the Whole Foods store at Lincoln and School around 10PM. The victim told police that the offender accosted her her near the intersection of Marshfield and Lincoln, then fled northbound on Marshfield.

She described the offender as a “fat” black man between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall who wore a gray jacket with a scarf covering his face.

Earlier, a man told police that two men wearing face masks jumped out of hiding in the 1000 block of W. Wellington and tried to rob him while armed with what appeared to be a handgun around 5:20PM.

The victim told police that both offenders were black men—one wearing a blue ski mask with a black jacket and the other described only as wearing a ski mask.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
