Man Carrying 4 Phones, 13 Gift Cards Gets Theft Charges

Walker (Chicago Police Dept)

A Lincoln Park man is charged with possession of a deadly weapon, theft of lost or mislaid property, and trespassing after police responded to the 1000 block of W. Dakin to investigate a report of a man pulling on vehicle door handles in the area.

Officers stopped 28-year-old Joshua D. Walker around 3:30PM on March 21 because he matched the suspect’s description, police said.

During a protective pat-down, police found a 4-inch knife in his pants pocket and four cellphones in his jacket, a CPD report says.

Officers have been unable to locate the owners of the four phones: an iPhone, a white Samsung Galaxy, a white LG, and a blue Alcatel. Also recovered from Walker were 13 gift cards, two Ventra cards, and an iPod, court records say.

Walker’s criminal record includes a 2008 conviction for robbery, which earned him a 3-year sentence. He is currently free on a $1,500 I-Bond.

About CWBChicago 4358 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
