A 35-year-old Uptown man is to face weapons charges today after several witnesses reported seeing him fire gunshots into the air near Wrigley Field Wednesday night.

CWB Chicago is withholding the man’s name until he appears in court this afternoon.

Police responded to multiple calls of shots fired near the stadium shortly after 11 o’clock last night. Patrons at a popular Wrigleyville sports bar told officers that they saw the man firing shots, too.

Shell casings were found in the 3700 block of N. Sheffield and the man was taken into custody moments later in the 3800 block of N. Kenmore, police said. A firearm was also recovered.

The suspect was described as male, white, 6’4” tall, 35 to 40 years old, and wearing Blackhawks gear.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
