UPTOWN: 2 Shootings Since 9PM As Gang Fight Heats Up

Two men have been shot in Uptown since 9 o’clock last night as reports of gunfire have surged in that neighborhood over the past week.

Police sources speculated that the increased shooting could be connected to the one-year anniversary of the shooting death of North Side rapper Young Pappy in Uptown on May 29.

• A 28-year-old man was shot in the right eye around 9:30PM Tuesday near Leland and Racine. The victim was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment.

• Then, another man was shot in the arm as he walked in the 1300 block of W. Leland around 1:20 this morning. He was transported to Illinois Masonic by acquaintances, police said.

• On Friday, an employee of an Uptown nursing home was shot in the leg as he smoked a cigarette in the 4600 block of N. Racine. Surveillance video showed a newer model Chevy Malibu with rear tinted windows pull up and an occupant opening fire on the victim around 2:20PM. No one else was injured.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
