Wild wig wearing senior robs Boystown bank

A Boystown bank was robbed Saturday afternoon by a man who also robbed a Near North Side bank last month, according to the FBI.

The offender walked into Fifth Third Bank at 3601 N. Broadway and handed a hold-up note to the teller just before 2PM on Saturday, police said.

He took the note back, pocketed $700 of the bank’s money, and was last seen walking southbound on Broadway, according to a witness.

The same man also robbed the Fifth Third Bank at 29 W. Division on July 12, the FBI said.

They describe the suspect as a thin black man in his late 50’s or early 60’s who stands about 5’6″ tall. He wore a large wig and a hat in both heists, according to police.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to the suspect’s capture. Tips may be relayed to the FBI’s Chicago office at 312.421.6700.

About CWBChicago 4360 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
