Man Robbed At Gunpoint In South Lakeview Saturday

It’s not what most people expect to see when they peer out of their front window in Lakeview.

But with robberies up 68% this year, maybe we shouldn’t be surprised.

A man who lives in the 2800 block of North Paulina told police that he looked out his window at 10:15 Saturday night and saw a man getting robbed at gunpoint by two offenders. According to a neighbor, the offenders held a gun to the victim’s back and then took his valuables.

Incredibly, a witness chased after the armed robbers, but the two managed to slip away in a 4-door silver Hyundai that was last seen heading the wrong way (west) in the 1800 block of West Wellington.

The victim and witnesses described the two primary offenders as black men in their late teens or early 20’s. One wore a white tank top with gray underwear sticking out of saggy jeans. The other wore a dark shirt and gray pants.

One witness said the vehicle’s rear passenger side tail light is burnt out and the getaway driver is a white man.

No one is in custody.

About CWBChicago 4259 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
