Shoplifter Pulls Knife On CVS Employee; Another Man Robbed At Belmont/Sheffield

Two more robberies were reported in the neighborhood today—a street mugging at a predictable location and a retail theft that turned violent, according to police records.

From the “predictable” file: A man flagged down police officers near Belmont and Sheffield at 3:40 a.m. after being robbed by a man who claimed to have a gun in the 3200 block of North Sheffield.

The offender was a black man in his mid-20’s who was wearing glasses, a denim jacket, and a beanie hat. He took about $150 from the man.

Then, a simple shoplifting turned dangerous this afternoon at CVS Pharmacy, 3101 North Clark.

Police say an employee saw a woman put a pair of hair clippers into a bag and head for the exit around 1:30 p.m.

When confronted, she pulled out a knife and held it to an employee’s throat, police said. The worker backed off and the women fled southbound on Clark Street.

The offender is a short black woman who weighs about 110 pounds and was wearing a black jacket with black pants, police said.

About CWBChicago 4360 Articles
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
