Man Charged In 5-on-5 Robbery In Boystown

Buffkin (Cook Co. Sheriff’s Office)

An 18-year-old Chicago Lawn man faces five counts of armed robbery in connection with a weekend mugging that saw a group of friends get held-up at gunpoint in the heart of Boystown.

Darius Buffkin held a gun to the five victims and threatened to shoot them as an accomplice collected the victims’ valuables, prosecutors say. Up to four other offenders surrounded the men, according to police. But Buffkin is the only person arrested.

The robbery went down at 4:40 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of West Roscoe. Buffkin was arrested about 30 minutes later in the 800 block of West Buckingham.

Police say he confessed to the crime. His bail stands at $450,000.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
